Republicans aren't. Conservatives are.


That it has been held by Republicans for so long is not indicative of a victory for Democrats. That a third party candidate came within 2-3% points of beating TWO major party candidates should be a wake-up call to both the Republicans and the Democrats.


The 23rd district is more moderate over history. Given state politics, they have to be. This was not a vote of endorsment for Democrats; it was a warning to the establishment.How can the Republicans call the loss of a House seat they have controlled for 100yrs a Victory?

What it was was a victory of the grassroot conservative GOP party base rejecting the ';go along to get along'; RINO Democrat-lite party line that caused the party to lose power the past two election cycles.





The GOP has only won and governed well when it embraces conservatism.





This was a wake-up call by the party base to the party leaders that they need to change their tune, or they will all be out of jobs.
Republican governors won TWO states that Obama won just last year. And this happened after all the Obama-worshippers had declared the Republican party ';over';. Obama campained for the two Democrat candidates in both states, and even then, Republicans still won. That's telling.
You do realize that more people voted against that guy in NY than for him, right? The third party candidate was on his butt with 45% and the Republican got 6%. Dude won with less than 50% of the vote. Very encouraging stuff for the Dems... NOT.
