Birth control pills cause weight loss?

i'm starting on Yaz to help regulate my periods and help with PMDD. I've heard that some birth control pills cause you to gain weight, and sometimes women lose weight. I've been struggling with weight loss for awhile and gaining weight is the last thing i want. Did anyone find that BC helped with weight loss? or does anyone have any advice for me regarding birth control pills? thanks.Birth control pills cause weight loss?
I have taken Yaz for over a year. It did not effect my weight at all. This may not be true for everyone tho. I was perscribed Yaz by my dr for the same reason, irregular menstal cycles and I had ovarian cysts. It has helped so much with my cramps and I am on time every month now. To me a few pounds gained or lost would be a sacrifice I would be willing to make for this. If it was to effect your weight it would because of the mood swings and possibility of depression some women get as a side effect. Hope this helps you!

*Just read your add' Ihave never gotten sick from taking Yaz...then again all womens bodys act differently to things. Like I said, I have taken it for about 15 months now and so far the only down side is it costs me $50 a month (and thats with my insurance!)Birth control pills cause weight loss?
I took Yaz before. I am a very thin person, and I found they did not effect my weight at all. However, I am warning you that Yaz is very high dosage of both estrogen and progesterone, which caused me to get very sick from them. I threw up almost everyday from them or felt airsick all the time and as a result stopped taking them. But besides throwing up, on days where I could keep it down, I found it did not affect my weight at all, and contrary to popular belief, it did not make my skin better either.

edit and yes I would say I had a pretty awful reaction to it, not trying to scare you. on Yaz i was always nauseous and sick and had to go home early from work bc of it sometimes. Honestly I felt like I was on chemo (how I imagine chemotherapy to feel).

I have been through it all and know what's it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can't be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I've worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.

Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.

First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can't eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising...

This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it's good for the heart.

However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It's so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I've found a great addition to help any one out, it's a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don't get all crazy on me and say diet pills don't work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn't meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It's an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at http://theweightlossplace .com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it's the best pill I've tried and I've tried cupboards full. Now this doesn't mean you have to follow my foot steps but I've successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.

Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.Weight loss pills. will they flush my birth control pills?

My friend has been thinking about trying the Acai Berry. She heard on Oprah and Rachel Ray that it works really well. You might want to check it out.

If have diabetic and it 's not on the control and if you are on the diet are you going to loss weight or not?

You MUST get your sugar under control. When your sugar is out of control you are doing damage to your internal organs. High glucose is very hard on the body period. And you will be prone to many feet problems, and will get infection very easily. It is much harder to lose weight when your sugar is out of control. Because you body will store everything it can that you take in.

Some can control their sugar by diet and exercise, others are forced to use oral medication, and Many have to give themselves injections. Whichever way you are using to try to control your blood sugar, combine it with good food choices and exercise. Its important to eat several SMALL meals. If have diabetic and it 's not on the control and if you are on the diet are you going to loss weight or not?
Um, it's possible a diabetic could lose weight if their blood sugars aren't under control, especially if they are not only following a good exchange list or glycemic diet (or the many variations in between this) and even more true if they are also exercising.

However my question would be, what does it matter if weight is lost if blood sugar levels remain out of control? There are soooo many complications that could end your life or seriously permanently disable you, before you ever lost the weight.

You might want to see a doc and see what options are available as far as meds, diet, exercise, and what your chances are (good, bad, or in between) if managing by diet alone.

Good luck! (:If have diabetic and it 's not on the control and if you are on the diet are you going to loss weight or not?
If you're not bothering to get your blood sugar under control, you'll certainly lose weight--as your corpse decays. Uncontrolled diabetics die young.

If anyone is taking the birth control pill Yaz, has one of the side affects been weight loss or gain? Thanks!

I've been on YAZ for over a year, and I love it. I haven't gained any weight but I also haven't lost any. Pretty much, that pill just makes me feel normal, theres no crazy side effects or anything like that. But still, pills effect everyone differently. If anyone is taking the birth control pill Yaz, has one of the side affects been weight loss or gain? Thanks!
its different for everyone but i gained weight , id rather gain weight at the time was on it than having a baby though, i wasnt ready for children yaz pill made me bleed really bad had to be taken off it sit down to pee bleed so bad sound like i was peeing went to er said was that it was that pill so went to depo shot good luckIf anyone is taking the birth control pill Yaz, has one of the side affects been weight loss or gain? Thanks!
    My side effects were:

daily migraines, wicked mood swings, mad depression, suicidal thoughts, nausea, diarrhea, acne, but no weight gain or loss.

If you don't have PMDD, I wouldn't recommend it. The hormones are much different from other BCP's.

What can cause frequent head rushes with loss of vision, motor control and awareness?

I'm a 24 year old, 5'10'; male and I weigh 150 lbs. For most of my life I've had the occasional head rush (one every one to two months) when rising from a siting or lying position. Over the past few years the frequency has increased and now I have one to three head rushes a day. Over the course of a week one or two of the head rushes will be severe resulting in these symptoms in order of onset; increased pressure in my head, stars in my vision, vision loss, loss of motor control (I collapse to the ground and gently shake), and loss of awareness. Once I lose motor control I become unresponsive. These ';head rushes'; last about fifteen to thirty seconds (so I've been told). The less severe episodes go through all the symptoms (pressure, stars and vision loss) except I maintain some motor control (I only stumble or fall down into a sitting or squatting position) and some awareness (I think I can still hear people but I can't talk or move too well). In the past two months I've started to have some of these head rushes occur while sitting with no plans or attempts to stand up. In one case I fell out of the chair I was sitting in. This has made me question Orthostatic hypotension as a self diagnosis.

Unfortunately I don't have health insurance and I can't afford lots of tests. If anyone has any idea what may be causing these episodes or how detrimental they may be (if it's nothing serious I'll just put up with it) I'd appreciate the input. What can cause frequent head rushes with loss of vision, motor control and awareness?
Low blood pressure would be my first guess, which is something you can confirm for free at a drug store. However, your health is not something you can afford to take lightly. Tell your doctor you don't have insurance and he can start with the cheapest tests first (like checking your blood pressure -- it's free!) as well as eliminating the more serious causes.

Most doctors are very understanding. What can cause frequent head rushes with loss of vision, motor control and awareness?
You could have an aneurysm, mini-strokes or epilepsy. You definitely need to see a doctor, right away. Don't put it off.
it cpould be complex partial, simple partial,or grand mal attacks. it might be epilepst. though im not to sure....
The head rush, head pressure, and stars points to a spiritual presence (a ghost). The other symptoms are similar to epilepsy, which is often caused by a spirit.

To confirm a spirit, try calling to it in your mind. Start by thinking of your symptoms, and a causative spirit, then think, ';hello, can you hear me?'; You will likely hear a response in your mind as if the thought was your own. This is called telepathy and once you have established communications you may converse at will. If there is a spirit causing your symptoms, they will most likely slow or stop when you realize what is going on.

Birth control....?? weight gain or loss?

when your on the pill and one of the side affects are weight gain.. well i knew someone that lost weight.. is this something that happens often?

thanksBirth control....?? weight gain or loss?
seriously i think its a myth. i mean look at the age of most girls on birth control. college age, dont we all gain weight in college. dont think about it that way. it would be an excuse to gain weight. i did gain but i also lost 30 lbs last year so no i think its a myth and incorrect data.Birth control....?? weight gain or loss?
I took one and it balanced out my hormones and actually made me lose weight by making me feel generally healthier and more balanced. I got off it, took it again, and then gained about 30 pounds broke out and went crazy. So you don't know until you try. Stay away from the Yaz/Yasmine, and the Orthotricyclines. I have had good luck with Alessa and Lo-Estrin.
Depends which one your on. Some make you lose weight some make you gain and some dont have any effects at all. I was on one once that made me gain about 5 kgs but the one im on now has no effect on my weight.
every birth control I have ever been on had made me gain weight- same with all of my friends. I guess we're not the lucky people that lose the weight.. It's a shame

Will my hair loss due to birth control pills eventually stop?

I have suffered from acne for about eleven years now and I am only 19... Ortho Tri Cyclen is the only thing that has ever been able to really help my skin...My hair has been thinning alot lately and I thought it was due to chemical damage but I just did some research and birth control can make your hair fall out. Does anyone know if after a few months of being on the pill the hair loss will stop? I just dont know what to do.. the pill reallly helps my skin but could be possibly ruining my hair... :(Will my hair loss due to birth control pills eventually stop?
    heres a snippet from a good website on health;

ALOPECIA: Genetic factors aside, zinc deficiency is known to cause alopecia (hair loss) in animals. I think vitamin E and the essential fatty acids linoleic and linolenic acid are also important. I stopped my own hair from thinning by taking lecithin, high doses of the B-complex, and zinc. It has been 12 years now, and I have not lost any more. Will my hair loss due to birth control pills eventually stop?
you need to talk to your doctor about this.
